Ivy Wells
Ivy Wells is a distinguished graduate of the University of Maryland, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. As a dedicated member of the Alpha Phi sorority, she cultivated a robust network and a strong commitment to service.
Throughout her professional journey, Ivy has held impactful roles, initially at Post Newsweek Media. However, her passion for community development led her to her current position as the Director of Economic and Community Development for the Town of Berlin. Prior to this, Ivy's diverse career included a dynamic tenure as a talent agent for Starleigh Entertainment, where she promoted, booked, and managed local musicians in the Baltimore area, significantly enriching the cultural landscape and fostering artistic talent.
Her experience in talent management further refined her skills in community engagement and strategic promotion, laying the groundwork for her subsequent endeavors in economic and community development. Notably, Ivy spearheaded transformative initiatives as the Director of Economic Development for the Town of Sykesville, establishing the Sykesville Main Street Program.
Since joining the Town of Berlin in 2014, Ivy has continued her dedication to fostering vibrant communities. In her current capacity, she oversees the town's downtown business revitalization efforts, manages the Berlin Arts and Entertainment District, and leads the Berlin Main Street program. Under her leadership, the town has secured over $2 million in grant funding and facilitated the successful launch of nearly 300 new businesses. Additionally, Ivy serves on the board of the Beach to Bay Heritage Area.
Ivy's commitment to excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the Governor's Bright Idea Award and being a two-time recipient of the MML Achievement Award. Her steadfast dedication to community development and economic prosperity continues to leave a lasting impact on the towns she serves. Berlin, Maryland, has flourished under her leadership, earning recognition and awards for its achievements in economic development and community revitalization during her tenure.
